Country Road Lavericks Bay

Right on our doorstep is one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets…Banks Peninsula. Christchurch is the gateway to this rugged volcanic landscape which consists of two large harbours, with many smaller bays and coves within. One such bay is Lavericks Bay; a private 1000 hectare sheep and beef farm which has been in the same family since the 1850s. The ‘glamping’ set up consists of two luxury tents, both with fireplaces, an eclectic camp kitchen, bathroom and outdoor bath tub. There is also a woodburning hot tub which offers the best spot for star gazing. An easy ten minute stroll from the campsite you’ll find yourself at a secluded and private beach, or there is the option to drive right to the shore. There is no cell phone reception at Lavericks Bay, so it provides the perfect opportunity to let go and simply connect with your surrounds and the land. There is no power at the site, just gas. Other than a few curious sheep (and lambs in the spring) some handsome looking cattle and if you’re lucky, seals and the rare Hectors dolphins, you have the whole place to yourself. Lavericks Bay offers an experience like no other and all within 90 minutes from Christchurch city.
